Paul Bradley

Paul Bradley was born on May 28, 1955, in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England. He is one of six siblings born to Irish parents. Bradley pursued his education at St Benedict’s School and later at the University of Manchester. His acting career began in the early 1980s when he joined the Royal Exchange, Manchester repertory theatre company. This early foundational experience in repertory theatre provided a solid grounding for his diverse career in the entertainment industry, which has spanned several decades and numerous notable productions.

Bradley gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Nigel Bates in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, a role he originated in March 1992 and continued until April 1998, returning to the series again in 2024. During his initial tenure on EastEnders, his character became a well-known figure, contributing to many storylines. Following this, he took on the role of Elliot Hope in the BBC medical drama Holby City, which he played from 2005 to 2015, with further appearances in 2019 and 2022, notably in the show’s final episodes. These long-running roles established him as a consistent presence in British television drama.

Beyond his prominent soap and medical drama roles, Bradley has appeared in a variety of other television series, including The Young Ones, The Bill, Red Dwarf, Bottom, My Family, and Alas Smith and Jones. He also secured a minor role in the critically acclaimed 2002 film The Pianist, demonstrating his range across different mediums. In theatre, Bradley performed as Major Metcalfe in the West End production of The Mousetrap in the summer of 2021. As a musician, he is a guitarist and vocalist for the progressive folk band The hKippers, which he co-leads with Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck. This multifaceted career highlights his versatility and sustained engagement in the arts.
