A highly acclaimed AFL legend, Paul Roos is a former Australian rules footballer and senior coach. He appeared in over 350 games with Fitzroy and Sydney before a successful coaching career and is now known for his numerous media appearances and speaking engagements.
Roos made his debut for Fitzroy Football Club in 1982, the beginning of a twelve year career with the AFL team. He was appointed captain of Fitzroy in 1988 before finishing his career with the Sydney Swans from 1995 to 1998. His AFL career saw him earn several awards and accolades including seven All-Australian selections and a Leigh Matthews Trophy for his MVP season in 1986. Following his playing career, Roos coached the United States National Team before returning home for coaching stints with the Sydney Swans and Melbourne Demons. Roos coached the Swans to the 2005 AFL premiership trophy, ending a 72-year title drought.
His career in media has been highly successful. As a legendary AFL personality, Roos was a staple on several programs on Fox Footy and 3AW and often contributed columns to the Herald Sun and The Australian. He later joined radio station Triple M in addition to his work as a television commentator, but left his full time role at Fox Footy in 2020 to focus on corporate speaking and other business and personal interests. His speaking engagements have included presentations for Commonwealth Bank Australia, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and Boss Magazine.
