Despite only appearing on a single season of Bravo’s reality TV phenomenon The Real Housewives of Orange County, Peggy Sulahian made her mark both as the 100th Housewife and the first ever Armenian-American Housewife in the show’s history. In 2017, Sulahian featured on the 12th season of RHOC, the original series of The Real Housewives franchise which chronicles the personal and professional lives of several upper-class women who reside in Orange County, California.
During her stint on the show, Sulahian was informed by doctors that a biopsy had found pre-invasive cancerous cells in her right breast. Having lost her mother to breast cancer at the age of 51, she chose to undergo a double mastectomy, which was ultimately successful. Sulahian has been eloquent on the subject of breast cancer awareness, using a blog on bravotv.com to inform women that ‘testing negative on the BRCA (BReast CAncer) gene does NOT guarantee being free of cancer. [Recovering from a mastectomy] is a long healing process mentally and physically, but completely worth not living the rest of your life in fear.’
Born in Kuwait to Armenian parents, Sulahian was brought to the U.S. as a one-year-old and now lives in the exclusive Crystal Cove community of Orange County with her husband Diko, a custom wheel mogul, and their three children. Since appearing on RHOC she has become a beauty brand endorser and in 2018 teamed up with Alkali Beauty to release the haircare product Peggy Sulahian’s Tease Spray. 2020 saw Sulahian host a ‘Ladies Luncheon’ to raise money for Armenia Fund, which currently provides ‘humanitarian, civilian and medical relief’ to the war-torn Republic of Artsakh. She promoted the luncheon via her Instagram account, which boasts over 130,000 followers.
