Amir Blumenfeld

Amir Shmuel Blumenfeld was born on January 18, 1983, in Afula, Israel, and moved to Los Angeles at the age of two. He later attended the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. While a sophomore at Berkeley in 2003, Blumenfeld began writing for CollegeHumor, a comedy website, after his submissions were noticed by co-founder Ricky Van Veen. Upon graduating in 2005, Blumenfeld was hired full-time by CollegeHumor to co-write ‘The CollegeHumor Guide to College’ and subsequently moved to New York City at the age of 22.

His career at CollegeHumor involved acting in original videos and series such as ‘Hardly Working’ and ‘Very Mary-Kate’. In 2007, Blumenfeld began starring in the ‘Prank War’ series with Streeter Seidell, which gained significant popularity and led to appearances on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ In 2009, he was a cast member on MTV’s ‘The CollegeHumor Show’. The same year marked the beginning of his collaborative work with Jake Hurwitz on the web series ‘Jake and Amir’, where Blumenfeld portrayed an exaggerated version of himself. This series earned him a Webby Award for Best Individual Performance in 2010 and a Streamy Award nomination in 2013.

Beyond CollegeHumor, Blumenfeld expanded his work to include acting roles in films like ‘A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas’ (2011) and television series such as ‘Louie’ (2011) and ‘Adam Ruins Everything’ (2018). In 2013, he and Hurwitz launched the comedy podcast ‘If I Were You’, which led to the co-founding of the podcast network HeadGum with Marty Michael. In August 2018, Blumenfeld launched another podcast, ‘Buckets with Amir Blumenfeld’, focusing on the NBA. His diverse career also includes writing for ‘ESPN The Magazine’ and ‘Mental Floss’.
