Peter Mensah

Peter Mensah was born on August 27, 1959, in Chiraa, Ghana. He grew up in St. Albans, England, just north of London, and began practicing martial arts at the age of six. Mensah comes from an academic background; his father was an architect, and his mother was a writer. Before pursuing a career in acting, he studied engineering and worked for British Gas, developing gas fields at Morecambe Bay. He later emigrated from Britain to Canada, making the transition from a professional engineering career to acting after having done theater in school.

Mensah’s acting career is marked by his commanding physical presence and distinctive voice, which have led to significant roles in major film and television productions. He is particularly recognized for his portrayal of Oenomaus in the Starz television series *Spartacus* (2010–2013).
