Football manager Peter Taylor was a prolific player in the 70s and 80s, working with 9 League clubs during his career. The quick winger started out at Southend United before spells with top tier teams such as Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur, appearing over 120 times and scoring over 30 goals for both clubs.
Named as Player of the Year twice and reaching the FA Cup Final in 1976, Taylor also stepped out four times with the England squad and scored two international goals. After retiring from playing himself Taylor has forged a long and successful career as a manager, including time with old clubs Southend United and Crystal Palace. To date, he has managed 16 League clubs and three England youth sides and was named the Premier League Manager of the month in September 2000.
Other highlights of his career include taking Brighton & Hove Albion to the top of the Second Division and scoring promotions for Hull City and Wycombe Wanderers. In 2000-whilst at the helm of Premier League club Leicester City-Taylor stepped up to caretaker manage the senior England team for a friendly against Italy, notably, it was Taylor who appointed David Beckham captain for the first time and put previously untried players such as Rio Ferdinand, Emile Heskey, Kieron Dyer and Jamie Carragher onto the international
