Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan, born Piers Stefan O’Meara on March 30, 1965, in Guildford, Surrey, England, began his career in journalism in 1985 after studying at Harlow College. He joined the Surrey and South London Newspaper Group before moving to The Sun in 1988, where he specialized in the showbiz column “Bizarre.” In 1994, at the age of 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, making him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in over 50 years. He transitioned to editing the Daily Mirror in 1995, a role he held until 2004. During his tenure, the newspaper underwent a rebranding project and engaged in various high-profile stories, although his time at the Mirror was also marked by controversies, including a stock trading investigation and the publication of fake photographs related to the Abu Ghraib scandal which led to his dismissal.

Morgan’s television career expanded significantly after his newspaper roles. He hosted ITV’s “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories” (2009–2020) and spent three years in the United States as the host of CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live” (2011–2014). He also served as a judge on popular talent shows such as “America’s Got Talent” (2006–2011) and “Britain’s Got Talent” (2007–2010). In 2008, he won “The Celebrity Apprentice” alongside Donald Trump. From 2015 to 2021, Morgan co-presented ITV’s “Good Morning Britain,” where his often outspoken views generated significant public discussion and numerous Ofcom complaints.

Following his departure from “Good Morning Britain” in 2021, Morgan launched “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on TalkTV in 2022. This digital-first show, also broadcast internationally on Sky News Australia and Fox Nation, moved exclusively to YouTube in 2024. A weekly highlights show from “Piers Morgan Uncensored” YouTube episodes was announced to air on Channel 5 starting September 2025. Throughout his career, Morgan has been involved in several high-profile disputes, including with figures like Jeremy Clarkson, Hugh Grant, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and has released several books, including “The Insider” (2005) and “Wake Up: Why the World Has Gone Nuts” (2020).
