Philip D’Oyly “Pip” Torrens was born on June 2, 1960, in Bromley, Kent, England, UK. He pursued his education in English Literature at Trinity College, Cambridge, earning a BA in 1981 and an MA in 1987. Following his academic studies, Torrens further developed his craft by training in acting at Drama Studio London, laying the groundwork for a career spanning over four decades. His early career saw him establish a presence in British television, with roles that built experience across various genres.

Torrens has demonstrated versatility in a wide range of productions. His film credits include notable roles in hit movies such as “Pride & Prejudice” (2005) as the Netherfield Butler, “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997) as the Captain of HMS Bedford, and “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” (2015) where he played Colonel Kaplan.
