Portia Doubleday

Portia Ann Doubleday was born on June 22, 1988, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a family engaged in the entertainment industry, with her parents, Christina Hart and Frank Doubleday, being former professional actors, and her older sister, Kaitlin, also an actress. Doubleday attended the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies and described herself as a tomboy, having played soccer for twelve years. Her early exposure to the industry included a commercial for Goldfish crackers at age eight and a minor role in the 1998 film “Legend of the Mummy”. Her parents emphasized education, requiring her to complete high school before pursuing acting professionally.

After high school, Doubleday was cast in the pilot episode of “United States of Tara” as 15-year-old Kate, though she was later replaced. In 2009, she appeared in the short film “18” and gained prominence for her role as Sheeni Saunders opposite Michael Cera in the teen comedy “Youth in Revolt”. This film, based on the novel by C.D. Payne, premiered at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival. Her career continued with roles in “Almost Kings” (2010), “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son” (2011), and as Heather in the ABC comedy “Mr. Sunshine” (2011).

A significant career milestone arrived in 2013 when Doubleday played Chris Hargensen in the adaptation of “Carrie”. She also had a brief role in Spike Jonze’s “Her” as Surrogate Date Isabella in the same year. From 2015 to 2019, Doubleday starred as Angela Moss in the critically acclaimed USA Network series “Mr. Robot”, appearing in 36 episodes across its four seasons. More recently, she joined the cast of the film “Fantasy Island”, released in 2020.
