Preacher Lawson was born in Portland, Oregon, on March 14, 1991. His early life involved moving to 20 different locations before the age of 10, with the longest period spent in Memphis, Tennessee. Lawson commenced his career in comedy in Orlando, Florida, which he identifies as his hometown. He began writing jokes at 16 and performed stand-up for the first time at age 17. His early career milestones include winning the 2015 Funniest Comedian In Florida and the 2016 Seattle International Comedy Competition. Between March 2016 and May 2017, Lawson appeared on four episodes of “Kill Tony” (146, 149, 163, 212), gaining further experience in the comedy circuit.
Lawson gained significant national recognition in 2017 with his appearance on Season 12 of “America’s Got Talent.” He successfully advanced through the elimination rounds, ultimately reaching the finals as one of the top 10 contestants. Following his success on “America’s Got Talent,” he participated in that year’s “America’s Got Talent Live!” show in Las Vegas.
