Priya Lakhani OBE began her career as a barrister. In 2008, she transitioned from law to entrepreneurship, launching a fresh cooking-sauce business. This venture, through its associated charitable foundation, provided substantial aid, including millions of meals and thousands of vaccinations, to underprivileged communities in India and Africa. Her entrepreneurial efforts were recognized early on when she was awarded Business Entrepreneur of the Year by the Chancellor in 2009. She was further honored with an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2014 for her contributions.
Following her success in the food industry, Lakhani founded CENTURY Tech in 2013. This company focuses on developing AI-powered learning tools for educational institutions and employers globally. In 2018, she co-founded the Institute for Ethical AI in Education, demonstrating her commitment to the responsible development and implementation of AI in learning environments. Her expertise has also led her to advisory roles, including serving as a business advisor to the UK’s coalition government and being appointed to the UK government’s AI Council in 2019.
