Yamen Sanders embarked on his athletic journey following in the footsteps of his father, a USC graduate and basketball alumnus who played professionally in the CBA and overseas in countries such as Italy, Japan, Germany, and Turkey. During his high school career at Culver City High School, Sanders was recognized as an All-CIF Southern Section Western Division defensive back and a PrepStar SoCal 150 honoree. He earned All-Ocean League honors, logging 90 tackles in 2011 with 10 tackles on three separate occasions, alongside one interception for 30 yards. In 2010, he recorded 32 tackles and one safety. Beyond football, Sanders also participated in high school basketball and track.
He continued his football career at the University of Arizona, where he redshirted his true freshman year in 2012. In 2013, he played in 12 games with the secondary and on special teams, totaling six tackles. The following year, 2014, Sanders participated in 14 games in the secondary and on special teams, logging five tackles. After transferring, Sanders became a fixture in the defensive secondary at the University of Montana in 2015, where he was the team’s sixth-highest tackler with 64 total stops and 28 solo tackles. He made his debut against North Dakota State in August 2015 with six tackles and achieved a career high of 11 tackles against Cal Poly in September of the same year. He also recorded one sack against Eastern Washington and broke up three passes, earning a Big Sky Academic All-Conference team nomination and an Honorable Mention for Big Sky All-Conference at safety. He returned to Montana for his redshirt senior year in 2016, positioned as the team’s second leading returning tackler from the previous season. Sanders pursued a major in pre-business and later earned a degree in Sociology, eventually becoming a real estate agent in Los Angeles.
Beyond his athletic endeavors, Yamen Sanders became a prominent social media influencer, model, and television personality. He was professionally represented by Aston Models and Talent Agency, leading to modeling opportunities. His public profile increased significantly after his appearance on Season 1 of Love Island USA, where he entered on Day 1 and was on the island for 22 days. As an influencer, he actively promotes fitness, emphasizing its benefits for both physical and mental well-being, and shares inspirational content, reflecting his passion for helping others. He is known for his ability to speak Italian, a skill developed during his upbringing. He also leverages his platform to help creators grow and monetize their social media accounts.
