Nine times Salsa World Champion Ricardo Vega is one of the best known salsa dancers in the world. Famous for his cabaret-style salsa which incorporates impressive tricks and acrobatic lifts, Vega has won more world and national titles with his dance partner Karen Forcano than any other couple. The pair have won nearly every international salsa competition including the World Salsa Summit and the World Latin Dance Cup, and are in-demand at salsa congresses around the globe, visiting Mexico, New Zealand, France, Australia, Spain, Japan and many more different countries.
Hailing from Santiago, Chile, Vega followed in the talented footsteps of his grandparents who were both tango dancers. He began dancing and then competing with Forcano in 2009 under the name Karen y Ricardo, and the couple’s ability to seamlessly combine classic salsa with elements of acrobatic dances soon attracted the attention of the entire world. In 2017 Vega and Forcano turned heads when they auditioned for America’s Got Talent Season 12, but it was their appearances on World of Dance season 2 that consolidated their fame outside of the world of dance. Nominated as best choreographers in three dance routines for the American Emmy Awards in 2019, they also won the award for Best TV Show Choreography at the World Chorography Awards, LA in the same year.
Recently Vega has begun judging international salsa competitions, and has launched an online merchandising store with Forcano.
