Following Gaspari Nutrition's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2014, substantially all of its assets were transferred to Allegro Nutrition as part of a court-approved Section 363 sale. This allowed the company to continue operations and maintain its brand presence.
In 2016, Jared Wheat, owner of Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, acquired co-ownership of Gaspari Nutrition, integrating its operations with Hi-Tech’s manufacturing and supply chain capabilities. This partnership was later bought out by Rich Gaspari in 2018.
Richard Gaspari, born on May 16, 1963, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, cultivated an early interest in bodybuilding, beginning his training at the age of 15. By 16, he competed in his first bodybuilding event, securing sixth place. His dedication to the sport led to him becoming an IFBB professional bodybuilder in 1984. During his competitive career, Gaspari became known for his exceptional conditioning and muscular definition, being the first athlete to display striations on the gluteal muscles. He achieved significant recognition within the professional circuit, including winning the prestigious Arnold Classic in 1989.
Gaspari consistently placed among the top contenders in the most significant bodybuilding competitions. He achieved second place three consecutive times at the Mr. Olympia contest from 1986 to 1988, an era dominated by Lee Haney. His career spanned over 30 competitions, with 12 victories. After retiring as an athlete, Gaspari furthered his expertise by obtaining a certificate from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. This knowledge, combined with his competitive experience, led him to develop his own methodology for sports nutrition.
In 1997, Gaspari transitioned into entrepreneurship by founding Gaspari Nutrition. The company quickly became a prominent entity in the sports nutrition sector. While the company faced financial challenges, filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2014, it continued operations. Gaspari later regained full control of Gaspari Nutrition in 2018, continuing to lead the brand. His contributions to bodybuilding were further acknowledged through his induction into the IFBB Hall of Fame in 2004, the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame Award in 2011, and the Arnold Classic Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
