He faced early business challenges and personal setbacks, including a divorce and financial difficulties, eventually realizing the importance of self-investment and continuous learning at the age of 35.
In 2012, Tipnes founded Blackstone Medical Services with the goal of improving access, cost, and quality of home sleep testing. Starting from a 400 sq. ft. office with a single employee and an investor loan, he navigated initial financial struggles, prioritizing employee welfare. The company has since grown into a national enterprise operating in all 50 states, employing over 200 individuals, and securing contracts covering over 79 million lives through various insurance providers. Blackstone Medical Services has consistently been recognized as an INC 5000 company for five consecutive years.
Beyond Blackstone Medical Services, Tipnes has expanded his ventures to include Tipnes Capital and Tipnes Health, which aims to offer primary care services and community centers. He is also the host of the Rise Conference, an event focused on entrepreneurship, team building, and cultural development, held in Tampa Bay, Florida, with a scheduled event in April 2023 and October 2025. His book, “Did You Sell Your Soul?
