About

Richard Steven Horvitz began his professional acting career at the age of 10 in Los Angeles, California. His early work included numerous stage productions, such as the musical “Oliver!” alongside Dick Shawn and Stubby Kaye. As a child, he also appeared in commercials and made guest appearances on television shows including “Diff’rent Strokes” (1978) and “Head of the Class” (1986). He continued to pursue acting, attending UCLA before leaving to star in the TBS original TV series “Safe at Home” (1985). In 1987, he co-starred with Mark Harmon and Kirstie Alley in the Carl Reiner-directed film, “Summer School.” His on-screen career also includes roles in “The Informant!” (2009) with Matt Damon and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” (2011) with Steve Carell. He also had roles in films like “Race to Space” (2001) and “The Legend of Galgameth” (1996) for the Disney Channel. Throughout this period, Horvitz maintained a presence on television, with multiple appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.

Starting in 1993, Horvitz shifted his career focus towards voice acting, a move that would lead to some of his most recognized roles. He voiced Alpha 5 in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-1999) and its subsequent iterations, including “Power Rangers Zeo” (1996) and “Power Rangers Turbo” (1997). His voice work expanded significantly in animation, where he became known for characters like Zim in Nickelodeon’s “Invader ZIM” (2001), Billy in Cartoon Network’s “The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy” (2003), and Daggett in Nickelodeon’s “The Angry Beavers” (1997). Horvitz’s career also extended into video games, featuring prominent roles such as Razputin Aquato in the “Psychonauts” series and Orthopox in the “Destroy All Humans!” series. He has voiced characters in numerous other video games including “Skylanders,” “Ratchet and Clank,” and “Kinectimals.” His distinctive voice has also been featured in commercials, notably as the “Green Grapes” for Fruit of the Loom.

Beyond acting, Richard Horvitz has taken on roles as a producer and voice director. He served as executive producer for “The Bug” (2018) and “Some Kind of Joke” (2017).
