Richard Kevin Sherman was born on March 30, 1988. He attended Dominguez High School in Compton, California, where he excelled in both football and track and field. As a senior in 2005, he recorded 1,030 all-purpose yards and earned a CIF Southern Section Division III title. Academically, Sherman was salutatorian of his high school class with a 4.2 GPA, voted ‘Male student most likely to succeed.’ He later graduated from Stanford University in 2010 with an undergraduate degree in communications, having initially played as a wide receiver for the Stanford Cardinal football team before converting to cornerback in his junior year.
Sherman entered the NFL in 2011 after being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round (154th overall). Despite being a late-round pick, he quickly established himself as a starting cornerback. He was a key member of the Seahawks’ “Legion of Boom” defense, which led the NFL in pass defense in 2013 and 2014, and scoring defense for four consecutive years from 2012 to 2015. He contributed significantly to the Seahawks’ victory in Super Bowl XLVIII, where they defeated the Denver Broncos 43–8. After seven seasons with the Seahawks, Sherman joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2018, making another Super Bowl appearance in LIV. His career concluded with a season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.
Throughout his 11-season NFL career, Sherman earned five Pro Bowl selections and was named All-Pro five times, including thrice to the first team. He led the NFL in interceptions in 2013. Following his retirement from professional football, Sherman moved into sports media, becoming an analyst for Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ coverage in 2022. In 2023, he joined the FOX show ‘Stars on Mars’ and later became a co-host for the sports debate show ‘Undisputed’ alongside Skip Bayless, further establishing his presence in sports broadcasting.
