Rita Baga is a drag queen who originally used to be a club kid, and who is best known for her appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race, the globally renowned TV show which has sparked a Drag revolution around the world. Baga was originally heavily inspired by Lady Bunny, as they were both starring as plus-sized queens. Baga is of Canadian-French origin, and was on the Canadian version of RuPaul.
Baga was incredibly successful on the show, being the first contestant to win two design challenges, and is the third contestant in history to have won half o the Maxi Challenges by the sixth episode, as well as the first ever contestant in Canada’s Drag Race to have ever won three Maxi Challenges in a single season. Baga has a reputation for being legendary in the drag community, despite, as she herself quips, not being “that old”.
Baga now hosts a show called La Haus of Baga at Cabaret Mado, as well as being a columnist on a show called La Semaine des 4 Julie on Noovo. Rita Baga has also participated in an online panel as part of the 2020 Just for Laughs festival alongside Priyanka, Scarlett BoBo and Jimbo, who she had also been on a socially distance tour with earlier in the year to celebrate Canada’s Drag Race.
