Kyne

Kyne Santos, born April 5, 1998, in Manila, Philippines, is a Canadian drag queen known professionally as Kyne. She immigrated to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, with her parents at the age of five. Her academic pursuits led her to the University of Waterloo, where she earned a Bachelor of Mathematics with a major in Mathematical Finance in 2021. Demonstrating a continuous commitment to her education, Kyne is scheduled to begin a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics at Toronto Metropolitan University in the fall of 2025.

Kyne gained prominence as a contestant on the first season of Canada’s Drag Race. Prior to her appearance on the show, she had established a following on YouTube, where she shared tutorials on various aspects of drag, including sewing and wig styling. Following her elimination from Canada’s Drag Race, Kyne’s online presence expanded significantly, particularly on TikTok. There, she developed a popular series of math tutorials delivered in her drag persona, amassing over 800,000 followers. These videos cover a range of topics, from basic mathematical concepts like pi and googol to more complex analyses of mathematics in current events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and race-based crime statistics. Through her content, Kyne aims to make mathematics engaging and accessible, challenging stereotypes about LGBTQ+ individuals in STEM fields and demonstrating that analytical and creative talents can coexist.

In January 2021, Kyne shared her personal coming-out story as part of the It Gets Better Project, further using her platform to connect with and inspire her audience. Her innovative approach to education and entertainment was recognized in 2023 when she was named to Forbes’ “30 Under 30 Local: Toronto” list. Kyne has also authored a book, “Math in Drag,” which explores the connections between mathematics and drag, highlighting the creative and beautiful aspects of both disciplines. She also hosts the podcast “Think Queen Pod.”
