Jean-François Guevremont, known as Rita Baga, was born on May 27, 1987, in Boucherville, Quebec. He pursued education at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where he studied human resources and tourist development. His drag career began in 2007, initially performing as Rita d’Marde. This early period saw him performing at venues such as Cabaret Mado. In 2010, the name was changed to Rita Baga when she became a regular performer at Montreal’s Cabaret Mado, solidifying her presence in the local drag scene.
Rita Baga gained wider recognition through her appearances on reality television. She reached the top three in the first season of “Canada’s Drag Race” and secured a top four position in “Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. the World” in 2022. Building on her success, Rita Baga transitioned into hosting, becoming the main host of “Drag Race Belgique” in 2022. Beyond competition, she has held a significant role as the director of programming for Fierté Montréal (Montreal Pride) for many years, coordinating major events like the annual Drag Superstars show. Her career also includes a successful theatre tour, “Créature,” and a role as a regular panelist on “Qui sait chanter?”, the Quebec adaptation of “I Can See Your Voice.”

In 2023, she reached the finale of “Chanteurs masqués” (The Masked Singer) as Le Lion, setting a new record for drag queens in the competition.
