English actor Rob Kazinsky has built a reputation on both sides of the Atlantic. British television viewers will remember him as Sean Slater in Eastenders, a role he played for three years between 2006 and 2009, and again in 2019. The role won him as many Sexiest Male awards as it did Best Actor ones. When he first left Albert Square, Kazinsky found work in America, first in film and subsequently in major series such as HBO’s True Blood. His more recent roles have included a part in the billion-dollar-grossing Captain Marvel film and The Gray Man, an action thriller that is the most expensive movie Netflix have ever made.
Kazinsky was born in Sussex and began his professional acting career as soon as he left stage school. His first major role was in Sky One’s football drama series Dream Team, playing Casper Rose. After leaving the show, he joined Eastenders as part of the notorious Slater family. He would go on to appear in over 250 episodes of the soap opera, making his name in Britain.
In 2009, Kazinsky was cast by George Lucas in WW2 movie Red Tails, appearing alongside the likes of Cuba Gooding Jr. and Leslie Odom Jr. He then appeared in several episodes of the sixth season of True Blood, playing Macklyn Warlow, and had a part in Pacific Rim, acclaimed sci-fi action movie that became a worldwide success, particularly in China. With more box-office and streaming hits added to his resume since then, it would seem that Kazinsky has joined the big league of cinema, but as his 2019 return to Walford shows, he’s not forgotten his roots.
