Robby Ginepri

Robby Ginepri achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 15 in December 2005, a significant milestone in his professional tennis career which began in 2001. Prior to turning professional, Ginepri showcased his talent in the junior circuit, reaching the boys’ singles runner-up at the 2000 US Open against Andy Roddick. That same year, he captured the Boys’ 18s Easter Bowl singles title and contributed to the U.S.

team’s victory in the ITF Sunshine Cup. Early in his professional career, Ginepri secured his first ATP singles title at Newport in 2003. The year 2005 proved to be a career-defining period for Ginepri. He advanced to his first ATP Masters Series semifinal in Cincinnati, followed by a remarkable run to the 2005 US Open semifinals.

There, he earned three consecutive five-set victories over Tommy Haas, Richard Gasquet, and Guillermo Coria, becoming the first player in the Open Era to play four consecutive five-set matches at the tournament before falling to Andre Agassi. In addition to this Grand Slam success, Ginepri won the Indianapolis ATP title in 2005 and reached another ATP Masters Series semifinal at the Madrid Masters. He also won the inaugural Superset Tennis tournament that year, concluding 2005 ranked World No. 15.
