Born on March 26, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ryan Arcidiacono developed an early passion for basketball, practicing extensively from a young age. His talent was recognized early, with Villanova coach Jay Wright noting his potential while Arcidiacono was still in 7th grade. He attended Neshaminy High School, where he became the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,498 points, despite missing his senior season due to a herniated disk. His high school career saw him average 20.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.2 steals as a junior, leading Neshaminy to the PIAA playoffs. After successful surgery, he embarked on his college career at Villanova.

At Villanova, Arcidiacono quickly became a key player. As a freshman in the 2012–13 season, he was named to the Big East Conference All-Rookie Team. His sophomore year saw him recognized as an honorable mention all-Big East selection. His junior season, 2014–15, was a significant milestone, as he was named co-winner of the Big East Player of the Year award, sharing the honor with Kris Dunn. This period showcased his capabilities as a leader and a skilled guard. His senior year, the 2015–16 season, culminated in an NCAA national championship title for Villanova. Arcidiacono was awarded the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player for his performance, famously assisting on the game-winning basket.

Arcidiacono transitioned to a professional career after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft, initially playing for the San Antonio Spurs in the Summer League before joining their G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs. He then signed with the Chicago Bulls in 2017, where he spent four seasons, making notable contributions in 81 games in the 2018-19 season, starting 32 of them and averaging 6.7 points and 3.3 assists. His career has also included stints with the New York Knicks (2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24), Portland Trail Blazers (2023), and their respective G League affiliates, the Maine Celtics and Windy City Bulls. In 2025, he signed with Trapani Shark of the Lega Basket Serie A.
