Sabine Schut-Kery is an Olympian dressage rider who was born in Germany but found success in America. She left her hometown in western Germany in her late twenties, relocating to Texas to become head trainer at a riding school. Ten years later, she took US citizenship and began representing the nation in dressage competitions, culminating in her being part of the silver-medal-winning dressage team at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She has been based in California since 2005.
Schut-Kery was born in Krefeld, Germany, in September 1968. She had established herself as a talented trainer when she made the journey to the Proud Meadows Stables in Waxahachie, Texas, in 1998. In 2005, she moved again, this time to California, in order to focus on dressage. She took up US citizenship two years later, and in 2015, she represented the United States for the first time, competing at the Pan American Games in Toronto and helping the team to bring home a gold medal. In 2018, she was part of the FEI Nations Cup-winning team, and in 2021, at the delayed Tokyo Olympics, she helped the team to win silver.
Schut-Kery remains active on the Grand Prix circuit and has also been competing at CDIYH events, helping to bring promising young horses through the ranks.
