She joined Grant Thornton in 1994, eventually rising to become its chief executive in 2015. Her appointment made her the first woman to lead a major City accountancy firm. During her tenure, she implemented changes such as profit-sharing for all staff and advocated for employee-friendly policies, including mental health support in the workplace. She also capped her own salary. Ms. Romanovitch led Grant Thornton UK LLP to exceed £500 million in annual revenues and, as a member of the global board, took on the role of People and Culture Leader, overseeing 40,000 staff across 140 countries. She remained committed to purpose-driven leadership, even when facing internal criticism concerning short-term profitability.
After her time at Grant Thornton, Sacha Romanovitch was appointed CEO of Fair4All Finance in September 2019. In this role, she has been instrumental in supporting the financial wellbeing of individuals struggling with money by promoting accessible, fair, and affordable financial services. Her efforts in this area were recognized with an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2020 for her ‘Services to Business.’ She is also the co-Chair of the Inclusive Economy Partnership and its financial services sub-group.
