About

Scott Donaldson, born on March 19, 1994, in Perth, Scotland, began his professional snooker career in 2012 after winning the European Amateur Championship. This victory earned him a two-year tour card for the 2012–13 and 2013–14 snooker seasons. In his debut professional season, he competed in ten Players Tour Championship events, with his best result being a last 32 finish at European Tour Event 1. He ended his first year ranked world number 89. The following season, Donaldson qualified for the 2013 Wuxi Classic, reaching the last 16. His performance in Asian Tour events led him to qualify for the Players Tour Championship Finals for the first time.

Donaldson continued to develop his career, reaching his first ranking event semi-final at the 2017 Welsh Open. He defeated several established players, including Jack Lisowski and Mark Davis, before losing to Judd Trump in the semi-finals, earning £20,000, his biggest pay-day at the time. In 2018, he was a semi-finalist at both the Gibraltar Open and the Paul Hunter Classic. A significant milestone occurred in 2019 when he reached the semi-finals of the China Open, beating Joe Perry and David Gilbert, which further boosted his ranking. He also qualified for the World Championship for the first time, making his Crucible debut, and climbed into the world’s top 40. In 2020, Donaldson secured his first professional title, winning the invitational Championship League, where he famously knocked Ding Junhui out of three tournaments in three weeks.
