About

Sebastian Theodore Kemble Croft, born on December 16, 2001, in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, began his professional acting career at seven years old. He first appeared on the West End stage in Sam Mendes’ production of “Oliver!” in 2010 at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. His early stage career included roles such as Gavroche in “Les Misérables” (Queen’s Theatre, 2011), the title role in a touring production of “Oliver!” for eighteen months, and Tommy in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s “Matilda the Musical” (Cambridge Theatre, 2013). Croft’s vocal talents were also featured in the National Theatre Live’s production of “Coriolanus” in 2014, working with Tom Hiddleston. He continued to build his stage presence, culminating in a role as Prince Arthur in Sir Trevor Nunn’s production of Shakespeare’s “King John” in 2016, which garnered praise from national media. In 2023, he returned to the stage after an eight-year hiatus, leading Sir Richard Eyre’s production of Amy Herzog’s play “4000 Miles” opposite Dame Eileen Atkins at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Croft transitioned into television and film with significant impact. In 2016, he appeared in “Houdini and Doyle” and “Penny Dreadful” before gaining international attention for his portrayal of a young Eddard Stark in the sixth season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” His feature film debut was in 2017 with “The Hippopotamus.” A key milestone in his career came in 2019 with a BAFTA Children’s Award nomination for Young Performer for his leading role as Atti in “Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans.” He also featured in “I’ll Find You” the same year. Croft’s voice acting credits include Peter van Daan in the animated film “Where Is Anne Frank” (2021) and Fletcher in an episode of Netflix’s “Love, Death & Robots” (2021). Further diversification of his portfolio came with gaming, specifically as the male protagonist voice in “Hogwarts Legacy” (2023).

His role as Ben Hope in the Netflix series “Heartstopper” (2022–2023) brought him widespread recognition, a character he played for 13 episodes across two seasons. Concurrently, he appeared in “Dampyr” (2022) and “Wonderwell” (2023). Moving forward, Croft is set to star as Archibald Arnold in the Amazon film “How to Date Billy Walsh” (2024) and Sam in the film “Get Away” (2024). In November 2023, he joined the cast of the BBC crime drama “Dope Girls.” Additionally, he released his debut single “Tokyo” in 2025 (originally 2024) and a second single “Better than ever” in 2026 (originally 2025), branching into music. Croft identifies as queer, and for Pride Month in 2022, he designed a t-shirt featuring gay dinosaurs, with proceeds benefiting Choose Love and Rainbow Railroad.
