South Korean skeleton racer Seunggi Jung competed in the 2016 Youth Olympic Games, and in 2018 took home the gold at the Intercontinental Cup in Winterberg.
This talented athlete has a highly successful youth career behind him, which included being ranked as junior number one and being widely regarded as one of the most promising prospects for the future of the South Korean team. He competed in the 2016 Youth Olympic Games, and in 2018 qualified for his first Winter Olympic Games where he soon established himself as one to watch over the coming years. Jung enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks once he was old enough to compete at senior competitions, with two wins at the North American Cup in 2017 followed by four podium finishes at the Intercontinental Cup in 2018, including a gold at Winterberg. The following year he competed in the IBSF World Championships in Whistler, coming ninth in the competition despite being up against some of the most experienced skeleton racers in the world.
At just 21 years old, Jung is part of the next generation of sporting talent to come from South Korea, and looks set for many more impressive performances in the coming years. He’s recently put in two gold medal winning performances at the 2020 Intercontinental Cup in his home country, and now has his sights set on an Olympic gold at the next Games.
