Two-time Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo is a track and field sprinter from the Bahamas. She competes in the 200 and 400 metres. She won the women’s 400 metre event at both the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She is the event’s world champion for 2022.
Miller-Uibo earned silver medals in the 400 m in 2015 and 2019 as well as a bronze in the 200 m in 2017, the same year she finished fourth in the 400 m at the World Athletics Championships. She captured both the indoor and outdoor 400 m world championships in 2022. She established the 400-meter indoor and outdoor North American records in October 2019 and February 2021, respectively. Her times of 48.36 (upgraded in the Tokyo Games) and 50.21 seconds put her in sixth and joint eighth place on the all-time global list, respectively. She has both indoor and outdoor world records for the 300 metres.
At age 16, Miller-Uibo won the 400 m World junior gold in 2010 and the World youth title the following year. She finished fourth in the 200 m at the 2013 World Championships when she was 19 years old. She won four Diamond League titles after winning the 200 m/400 m double in 2017 and was the 200 m winner at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She also holds the circuit records for both events. In the 150- and 200-meter straight races, Miller-Uibo has the fastest time for women in the world. Her 200 m personal best time of 21.74 seconds is a national record for the Bahamas. For the Georgia Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs, she won the NCAA Division I indoor championship. She also won numerous national championships in each of her disciplines.
