Shayan Chowdhury Arnob is a multitalented force in the Bangladeshi artistic landscape, renowned as a singer-songwriter, musician, painter, filmmaker, animator, and producer. As the founding member of the indie folk band Bangla, Arnob sparked waves of creativity before the band temporarily disbanded due to internal reasons. Undeterred, he continued to captivate audiences alongside some former bandmates under the moniker Arnob and Friends.
Arnob’s musical journey reached new heights with the title track “She Je Boshe Ache,” featured in the 2004 TV drama Offbeat, marking his solo breakthrough. This track also found a home in his debut solo album “Chaina Bhabish” (2005). Subsequent solo releases, including the acclaimed albums “Hok Kolorob” and “Doob,” solidified Arnob’s stature as a leading figure in Bangladeshi music.
Venturing beyond music, Arnob expanded his creative repertoire, composing evocative scores for notable Bengali films like “Monpura,” “Jaago,” “Aynabaji,” and “Under Construction.” His foray into filmmaking yielded “Introspection,” a documentary on his father Swapan Chowdhury, exhibited by Bengal Foundation.
Arnob’s influence extends to the realm of television, where he spearheaded the inaugural season of Coke Studio Bangla in 2022, showcasing a fusion of musical styles and talents. Furthermore, his life and career were the subjects of the biographical documentary “Adhkhana Bhalo Chele, Adha Mostaan,” released by Bangladeshi streaming platform Chorki in 2021.
With a legacy marked by innovation and artistic integrity, Arnob continues to push boundaries and inspire generations through his boundless creativity across various artistic mediums.
