Shayna Baszler had a significant tenure with WWE, where she became a two-time NXT Women's Champion and a three-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion. Her time with the company included numerous high-profile matches and championships, establishing her as a prominent figure in women's professional wrestling.
Following her release from WWE, Shayna Baszler announced her debut in House of Glory's SuperClash event, marking her first independent in-ring appearance since leaving WWE.
Shayna Andrea Baszler, born on August 8, 1980, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is an American professional wrestler and former kickboxer and mixed martial artist. Her combat sports journey began in 2006 with her first professional MMA fight, quickly establishing herself as a skilled submission grappler. Baszler received training in mixed martial arts from former UFC fighter Josh Barnett and in catch wrestling from Billy Robinson, further honing her unique combat style. She competed in various promotions, including EliteXC and Strikeforce, before signing with the UFC in 2013, where she participated in “The Ultimate Fighter” reality television series.
After her tenure with the UFC, Baszler transitioned her career to professional wrestling in 2015, immediately making an impact on the independent circuit and with World Wonder Ring Stardom. Her signing with WWE in 2017 marked a significant turning point, leading to an impressive run as a two-time NXT Women’s Champion, holding the title for a combined 549 days, and a three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. Baszler developed a distinctive “Queen of Spades” persona, incorporating card tricks and referring to her fanbase as the “Queen’s Army,” reflecting her “submission magic” in the ring. Her career progression showcased her ability to adapt her combat skills to the demands of professional wrestling, consistently delivering high-stakes performances.
Throughout her career, Baszler has accumulated various accolades across multiple disciplines. In mixed martial arts, she earned the FCF Women’s Bantamweight Grand Prix Championship and the TCI Women’s 140 lbs Championship, alongside two “Fight of the Night” honors in Invicta FC. In professional wrestling, beyond her WWE achievements, she secured championships such as the AIW Women’s Championship, the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, and the Premier Women’s Championship. Baszler’s commitment to combat sports extended to her advocacy for a South Dakota athletic commission for combat sports, demonstrating her influence beyond the ring. She is also a recognized Khun kru in Muay Thai and holds a 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
