Sherri Shepherd is an American actress, comedian, author and television personality. Her career has been wide-ranging and diverse, but she is most recognisable for having appeared on the iconic panel show The View as one of the hosts. She and her co-stars (who include legends such as Whoopi Goldberg) have received an Emmy Award (and four nominations) for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 2009. The extent of the show’s influence is exemplified by their inclusion in the 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine and ranked eleventh in the Forbes list of Influential Women in Media.
Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Shepherd didn’t always have dreams of being in showbusiness. She originally trained as a legal secretary, but her love of drama and comedy earned her several guest roles in sitcoms. She got her big break in the sitcom Less Than Perfect, playing the role of Ramona Platt from 2002-2006. Following this, she gained mainstream popularity in her appearance on the cult television show 30 Rock. She played Angie, the wife of Tracy Jordan. Her most notable film appearance was in the movie Precious, which made cultural waves and was nominated for (and won) several awards.
Her charismatic and entertaining personality made her a sought-after television presence, and she appeared as a host and a contestant on shows like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and To Tell the Truth. She has also appeared on Dancing With The Stars and presented the Emmy Awards.
