United States Sidney Rivera has transitioned from a professional soccer career to a client director role, leveraging skills developed on the field into the business world.
Sidney Rivera, a former professional soccer player, joined AHEAD Sales University with no IT background and emerged as a Client Director in New York City.
Sidney Rivera was born on November 15, 1993, in Staten Island, New York, USA. He later moved to Hampton, New Jersey, where he attended North Hunterdon High School. His early athletic career included playing for the Match Fit Academy from 2009 to 2011. Rivera continued his soccer career at Old Dominion University, playing for the Monarchs from 2011 to 2014. During his collegiate tenure, he made 48 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist. His most notable season was 2014, where he led the team with nine goals and was named Conference USA Tournament Offensive MVP, contributing to Old Dominion University’s first-ever Conference-USA tournament championship.
Rivera began his professional soccer career in 2014 with Virginia Beach City FC. He was drafted by Orlando City in the third round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. Following this, he was loaned to Louisville City FC in May 2015, making 10 appearances, and later to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in July 2015, where he made one appearance. In 2016, Rivera signed with NASL expansion side Puerto Rico FC. He played 16 matches and scored 3 goals in his first season. He continued with Puerto Rico FC for a second season, appearing in 20 matches. After leaving Puerto Rico FC due to operational reasons, Rivera played for Atlantic City FC in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and had a brief stint with Reno 1868 FC. He also played internationally for Than Quang Ninh in Vietnam, Bangladesh Police FC in Bangladesh, Morris Elite SC in the USL League Two, and currently plays for New York Braveheart SC in the United Premier Soccer League.
Beyond club soccer, Rivera has represented the Puerto Rico national football team, making his debut in March 2019 during a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier. He has scored international goals for Puerto Rico. In parallel, Rivera earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Old Dominion University, with minors in Sport Management and Coaching. He has since pivoted from his professional athletic career to a role as a Client Director in New York City, joining AHEAD Sales University without a prior IT background.
