Belgian footballer Simon Mignolet is a goalkeeper for leading English Premier League side Liverpool as well as his own national team. His professional career started with second division Belgian side Sint-Truiden in 2004, where he stayed for six season and turned out more than 10 times for the club. He even managed to score a goal and then went on the move to England, being signed up by Sunderland in June 2010 for £2 million. He remained there for a further three season, again picking up more than 100 caps in all games and then moving to Liverpool in June 2013 for £9 million. Having started out at the Belgian team at under 16 level, Simon has gone on to play for the side at every other level and after making his debut in 2011 with the team, he has played more than 17 times and also was a part of the named squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.Simon has won many individual honours in his career in football including Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year: 2009-10, Sunderland’s Player of the Year: 2013 and Liverpool Player of the Season (given by former players) in 2014-15. Fluent in English, Dutch, French and German, Simon has a degree in political science and got married in 2015. Former manager Brendan Rodgers hailed Mignolet as being “one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League” and so he remains a popular figure in the game, with great stories to tell, skills to offer at coaching sessions and more besides.
