Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho has established himself as a prominent attacking midfielder, evolving from a prodigious youth player to a key figure in top European clubs and the Brazilian national team. After contributing to Vasco da Gama’s 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B title and subsequent promotion to the top tier, Philippe Coutinho formally joined Inter Milan in July 2010, following his €4 million signing by the Italian Serie A club in 2008. During his initial tenure, he gained valuable experience through a loan spell with La Liga club Espanyol in January 2012, where he scored 5 goals in 16 appearances. His impactful performances led to a transfer to Premier League club Liverpool in January 2013 for an £8.5 million fee.

In January 2018, Coutinho made a high-profile move to FC Barcelona for a reported fee of up to £142 million, where he secured two La Liga titles in 2018 and 2019, along with the Supercopa de España in 2018. He also achieved significant international recognition, having debuted for the Brazil senior team in 2010, contributing to their 2019 Copa América victory, and participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup where he was named to both the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team and Dream Team. His career then saw a successful loan spell at Bayern Munich for the 2019-20 season, during which he was part of the squad that achieved the treble, winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League in 2020. Coutinho continued his career progression, joining Aston Villa, initially on loan in January 2022 before making the move permanent.

In 2023, he was loaned to Qatar Stars League club Al-Duhail. Most recently, in 2024, he re-joined his club Vasco da Gama on an initial loan, with a permanent transfer set for 2025, bringing his decorated career full circle.
