Brazil Philippe Coutinho has established himself as a prominent attacking midfielder, evolving from a prodigious youth player to a key figure in top European clubs and the Brazilian national team.

Philippe Coutinho Correia was born on June 12, 1992, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Displaying exceptional talent from a young age, he began his football journey in the youth system of Vasco da Gama. His early exposure to Futsal contributed to his development of skill and improvisation. In 2008, at the age of 16, Coutinho was signed by Italian Serie A club Inter Milan for €4 million, though he remained on loan at Vasco da Gama for two years due to FIFA regulations regarding international transfers for underage players. During this loan period, he became an important player for Vasco da Gama, contributing to their 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B title and subsequent promotion to the top tier.
Coutinho formally joined Inter Milan in July 2010. After initial struggles for consistent playing time, he was loaned to La Liga club Espanyol in January 2012, where he gained valuable experience and scored 5 goals in 16 appearances. His impactful performances led to a transfer to Premier League club Liverpool in January 2013 for an £8.5 million fee. At Liverpool, Coutinho flourished into a clinical playmaker, known for his visionary passing, dribbling, and long-range shooting. He became a central figure for the team, playing 201 times and scoring 54 goals during his five-year tenure. Key achievements at Liverpool include being named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2015 and earning Liverpool’s Player of the Season awards in 2015 and 2016.
In January 2018, Coutinho made a high-profile move to FC Barcelona for a reported fee of up to £142 million. With Barcelona, he secured two La Liga titles. He then experienced a successful loan spell at Bayern Munich for the 2019-20 season, where he was part of a team that achieved the treble, winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League. Following his time at Barcelona, Coutinho joined Aston Villa, initially on loan in January 2022, before making the move permanent. In 2023, he was loaned to Qatar Stars League club Al-Duhail, and in 2024, he re-joined his boyhood club Vasco da Gama, initially on loan before a permanent move in 2025. On the international stage, Coutinho debuted for the Brazil senior team in 2010, contributing to their 2019 Copa América victory and participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
