After representing Moldova at the World Championships in 2007, Sofia Polcanova quickly rose through the ranks, joining the Linz AG Froschberg club and receiving Austrian citizenship in 2010. Her international breakthrough arrived at the 2014 European Championships in Lisbon, where she earned a silver medal as part of the Austrian team.
