Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Sophia Urista is a shining light. Sultry soul lavishly flows through Urista’s heartbreaking, hopeful and beautiful lyrics reminiscent of an age of music long past. Urista finds inspiration from the likes of The Rolling Stones through to Nirvana and Pharrell Williams, and it shows. With her lavishly romantic single “Everything About You,” through to the gritty punk vibes of “Arms of Love,” Urista is a genre-smashing queen.
Beyond her solo work, Urista is the lead singer of the nine-piece brass band, “Brass Against.” The band famously became a viral sensation with their covers of the iconic Rage Against the Machine and Tool. Since exploding onto the music scene, there is rarely a spare ticket for their groundbreaking shows. Opening for Lenny Kravitz on his London leg of his 2019 tour was a highlight for Urista and the band. Urista is also an accomplished resident artist on the Las Vegas strip. One of her most recent roles was as the intergalactic space diva, Dusty Moonboots in the hit show OPIUM at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
Authenticity lies at the heart of Urista’s music. Her own love story is the inspiration for her hit single “Everything About You.” Shooting the music video on the breathtaking Nicaraguan shore, Urista created a unique, heartfelt proposal to her long term girlfriend. As Urista continues to push the boundaries of the industry, she is undeniably a star to watch.
