Spencer Rattler

Spencer Rattler was born on September 28, 2000, in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Pinnacle High School, where he achieved significant success, breaking the Arizona high school passing record on his 18th birthday. During his four years in high school, he recorded 11,083 passing yards with 116 touchdowns, alongside 1,040 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. His performance earned him recognition as the Elite 11 MVP in 2018. Rattler was highly recruited, committing to the University of Oklahoma after receiving offers from multiple NCAA Division I schools.

He enrolled at Oklahoma in June 2019, redshirting his freshman year after limited appearances. In 2020, Rattler was named the starting quarterback, leading the Oklahoma Sooners to a Big 12 Championship and earning First-team All-Big 12 honors. The 2021 season saw him enter as a Heisman Trophy candidate, but he was benched for Caleb Williams, leading to his transfer to the University of South Carolina. At South Carolina, under head coach Shane Beamer, Rattler started for two seasons. In 2022, he led the Gamecocks to an 8-5 record, with notable upsets against No. 5 Tennessee and No. 8 Clemson, breaking program records for touchdown passes in a single game. He finished his college career with 10,807 passing yards and 77 touchdowns.

Rattler declared for the 2024 NFL Draft after his 2023 season, where he set a career high with 3,186 passing yards and was named the MVP of the 2024 Senior Bowl. He was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round as the 150th overall pick. In his rookie NFL season in 2024, after starting quarterback Derek Carr suffered an injury, Rattler stepped in as the starter. He finished the season having played in seven games, recording 1,317 passing yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions and setting a franchise record for most passing yards by a rookie quarterback. For the 2025 NFL season, Rattler was named the Saints’ starting quarterback.
