Former professional English snooker player Steve Davis is still a very much loved and popular sporting celebrity who has remained on British TV screens for years after retiring from the game. Steve was at his peak in the 1980s when he won the World Championship six times and was ranked world number one for seven consecutive seasons. His most famous match was a final against Dennis Taylor that came down to the black and was watched by a record 18 million people. Away from snooker, Steve Davis has many hobbies. One of them includes DJing, and has seen him play at some credible underground events to many delighted dancers. He has had a lifelong passion for techno and is an authentic music collector and club spinner with an ever growing cult following. As well as this he has competed in a number of pool tournaments, has played as part of Team Europe at the Mosconi Cup and helped the side win the event in 1995 and again in 2002. He is also a top amateur chess player who has co-written two books on the subject and is a former president of the Chess Federation. Steve has also had a number of snooker books published and has had thee cookbooks published. He is a regular on British TV shows like I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! on ITV in 2013 and was made an MBE in 1988 and an OBE in 2001 for his services to sport.
