Steve Lyons is a former Major League Baseball player and broadcaster, known for his versatility on the field and his distinctive commentary style. After being drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round (19th overall) of the 1981 MLB June Amateur Draft, Steve Lyons immediately embarked on his professional baseball career. He began his journey through Boston’s farm system, playing for the Winston-Salem Red Sox in 1981, the Bristol Red Sox in 1982, the New Britain Red Sox in 1983, and the Pawtucket Red Sox in 1984. Lyons made his Major League debut with the Boston Red Sox on April 15, 1985, as a pinch runner.
