Tameka Foster, born on January 1, 1971, in Oakland, California, embarked on her professional journey in fashion with a clear vision. She attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in 1994, majoring in Merch Marketing. Her early career included retail sales and management, and she gained hands-on experience working as a dresser for Giorgio Armani and other designer fashion shows. Her styling career gained prominence with her work for Lauryn Hill, whom she helped brand an international fashion icon. Over the years, Tameka has styled numerous notable figures including Jay-Z, Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Usher, Ciara, Toni Braxton, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, Timbaland, Maxwell, The Fugees, T.I., Janelle Monáe, and Dr. Dre. Her work has been featured in publications like Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, People, Teen People, The Source, Vibe, and Details. She has also appeared on television shows such as MTV, E!, and Access Hollywood, further establishing her presence in the fashion industry.
Beyond her styling endeavors, Tameka has expanded into design, leading creative projects in fashion and interior spaces, and is a three-time published author. In 2014, she joined the cast of VH-1’s reality series “Atlanta Exes.” In August 2019, she launched “The Odd Life of Kile Lyles,” a 3-D animated series developed with her sons, honoring her late son Kile. This project, which began development in 2013, tells the story of an 11-year-old boy’s imaginative world.
Tameka Raymond is deeply involved in philanthropy. She co-founded Oakland Natives Give Back in 2007, an organization dedicated to uplifting communities through education and annual service initiatives, providing backpacks, public-transportation vouchers, shoes, and school supplies to underserved children. In 2009, she founded The Lost Ones Foundation, a non-profit aimed at supporting at-risk girls aged 12-18 through retreats focusing on positive image classes and life skills. In March 2013, she established Kile’s World Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, in memory of her son Kile. This foundation provides comprehensive art education to children aged 10-17, gifting them opportunities in applied, fine, and performing arts.
