Patricia Krentcil, better known as Tan Mom, became a famous internet personality after sneaking her five year old daughter into a tanning salon.

Krentcil shot to fame in 2014, after she went to court for taking her young child to a tanning salon with her. An interview with the mother circulated online, and went viral almost immediately, with internet users ridiculing her appearance and creating countless memes of the tanning addict. The story was quickly picked up my media and news outlets, with famous face such as Kristen Wiig impersonating the Tan Mom on Saturday Night Live. Krentcil suddenly became a celebrity, being invited to make numerous red carpet appearances and attend high profile events, before launching a singing career off the back of her internet fame. She appeared on radio shows with famous presenters such as Howard Stern and Dr Drew, managed to get sober and now works with a tanning salon having turned her life around and used her internet fame for the better. In 2019, fans were shocked to find out that Krentcil had been put in a medically induced coma after experiencing complications from pneumonia, but luckily the tan-addict-turned-singer is now on the road to recovery.
