Tanner Buchanan

Tanner Emmanuel Buchanan was born on December 8, 1998, in Lima, Ohio. He demonstrated an early interest in performing arts and physical disciplines, excelling in skateboarding, taekwondo, and dance from a young age. His mother, a black belt in martial arts, introduced him to karate. Buchanan is also a skilled dancer, winning national tap dance tournaments throughout his childhood and adolescence. At the age of eight, he moved with his family to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, commencing his acting training at the Edge Performing Arts Centre (PAC) and with acting coach David Kaufman at Huckleberry Friend Productions, Inc.

Buchanan began his acting career in 2010 with a child role in “Modern Family.” He subsequently appeared in television series such as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Major Crimes,” “The Goldbergs,” and “Deputy.” In 2015, he took on recurring roles as Charlie Gardner in the Disney Channel series “Girl Meets World” and Mason Kendall in the Nickelodeon series “Game Shakers.” A notable role came in 2016 as Leo Kirkman, the son of the President, in the political drama “Designated Survivor,” where he appeared in 19 episodes until 2018. During this period, he also featured as Jack Downey in “The Fosters” for six episodes and made a special appearance in “Fuller House” as Chad Brad Bradley.

His career advanced significantly in 2018 with his role as Robby Keene in the Netflix martial arts series “Cobra Kai,” a direct sequel to “The Karate Kid” franchise. This role brought him global recognition and involved extensive martial arts training. Beyond television, Buchanan has featured in films such as “Max Winslow and the House of Secrets” (2019), “Sinister Seduction” (2019), and “Chance” (2020). In 2021, he starred in “He’s All That” alongside Addison Rae and narrated an audio version of “The Great Gatsby.” Buchanan continued his film work with “The Hyperions” (2022) and “How to Date Billy Walsh” (2024), further diversifying his professional profile.
