About

Taylor Castro was raised in Southwest Ranches, Florida, a rural horse town located half an hour from Miami. She was born on September 29, 1999, in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Her family background includes Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants with ties to Spain, and she is also of Irish descent. Her father, Eric Castro, co-founded Banker’s Healthcare Group (BHG) a year after her birth. Her mother, Barbie Castro, had a career as a model, actress, and singer, performing in Spanish girl groups before becoming an actress and film producer. Taylor is also the younger sister of Rhys Kelly, a jewelry designer specializing in prosthetic eyeballs. From kindergarten through her senior year, Taylorattended American Heritage School, focusing on performing arts. By the age of eight, she was active in stage acting, creating short films, writing original songs, and developing a series of books on her computer.

Taylor’s on-screen acting career began at age 12. During her teenage years, she appeared in a series of Lifetime movies, working alongside actors such as Dina Meyer, Casper Van Dien, Jason London, and Christy Carlson Romano. In addition to acting, she pursued music, releasing two full albums before turning 18. The music videos for these albums accumulated over 25 million views. After completing high school, Taylor studied film and English at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Subsequently, she transferred to SCAD Atlanta to concentrate on screenwriting. Her acting career continued to develop, notably with a role as Carla in Hulu’s “The Girl From Plainville.” She wrote, directed, and starred in multiple student films. Taylor also adapted James Alan Ross’s “The Haunting of Dylan Klaypool: Whispers in Black Willow” into a TV pilot titled “Paranormal Nobodies,” developing a 106-page TV bible. Her efforts garnered half a million in funding for the pilot’s production and the attention of director Lindsay Hartley. Taylor also plays the lead role of Dylan Klaypool in the series.

Taylor Castro has expanded her artistic endeavors, continuously exploring different mediums for expression. Her work in music and film is characterized by her focus on storytelling. She has a deep connection to literature, particularly William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” which influenced the concept for her 2021 album, “Girl, Afraid.” This album tells the story of Ophelia and explores themes of mental health, including her personal struggles with OCD, as highlighted in the title track. “Girl, Afraid” received recognition from “American Songwriter” and earned her the “Best Female Vocalist” award at the Hollywood Music & Media Awards in 2021. Her single “Muse With A Dagger” was praised by “LADYGUNN” for its songwriting and vocal performance. Taylor views her career as a storyteller, utilizing her talents across acting, writing, directing, and music to connect with audiences.
