Tecia Torres is a talented American mixed martial artist who competes in the strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As of late 2022, she was named #8 in the UFC women’s strawweight rankings. Over a successful career, she has achieved a professional record of 13 wins and 6 losses, and also won Performance of the Night after her exciting UFC bout against Juliana Lima.
Torres has an extensive background in martial arts, starting in taekwondo at the age of three and receiving her black belt after twelve years of practice. She also has a 16-4 record in amateur Muay Thai. She began her amateur mixed martial arts career in 2011, decisively winning each of her seven bouts and obtaining 115-pound titles in MMA Solutions, US Freedom Fighter Championship, and American Battle Championships. In 2012, Torres moved to professional mixed martial arts and signed with Invicta Fighting Championships. A year later, in December 2013, Torres was announced as one of 11 women signed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for its newly created strawweight division. She also competed as a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter reality series, as part of a tournament to crown the inaugural strawweight champion! Torres made her UFC debut against fellow Ultimate Fighter competitor Angela Magaña at The Ultimate Fighter: A Champion Will Be Crowned Finale on December 2014. She won the fight via dominant unanimous decision, out-striking Magaña two-to-one over the course of three rounds. Torres has since faced numerous top contenders, including Rose Namajunas, Michelle Waterson, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, and Zhang Weili.
