Dalip Singh Rana, an Indian American professional wrestler, actor, and promoter, goes by the ring moniker The Great Khali. Currently, he is a member of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Rana came from a poor family and worked various jobs to make ends meet before becoming an officer with the Punjab State Police. In his spare time, he began working out at the local gym and honing his wrestling talents. He went to the United States to get specialized wrestling training and better possibilities for his life in general.
Rana quickly attracted the attention of many promotions because to his 2.16-meter frame. He began his career with the California-based promotion ‘All Pro Wrestling,’ (APW), then went on to work for the ‘World Championship Wrestling,’ (WCW), and ‘New Japan Pro-Wrestling,’ (NJPW) gaining additional experience. In 2006, he made his WWE television debut, making him the first Indian-born professional wrestler to do so. He wrestled and defeated The Undertaker, Big Show, and John Cena during his initial tenure with the promotion, which lasted until 2014. Rana made his WWE comeback in 2017 on the ‘SmackDown’ pay-per-view event ‘Battleground.’
The Great Khali has held the title of ‘WWE World Heavyweight Champion’ on one occasion. After winning the 20-man battle royal on July 17, 2007, he was awarded the belt. The episode of ‘SmackDown’ aired on July 20. Outside wrestling, Rana has been in a number of films and television shows, including ‘The Longest Yard’ (2005), ‘Get Smart’ (2008), ‘Kushti’ (2010), ‘Outsourced’ (2011), and ‘Pair of Kings’ (2012).
