The Katinas, composed of five brothers from American Samoa, have established a career in Christian music through their soulful R&B sound and messages of faith and family. After performing nationwide in 1995 with notable artists such as R. Kelly, Jasmine Guy, DC Talk, and Amy Grant, The Katinas established a significant presence in the Christian music genre. The group, comprised of five brothers Sam, Joe, James, John, and Jesse, initially released independent albums including ‘KATINA BOYZ’ in 1991 and ‘WE BELIEVE.’ Their distinctive soulful R&B sound and powerful messages of faith led to a pivotal record deal with Gotee Records in 1997, marking the beginning of a prolific period.
The Katinas have continued their prolific output in recent years, engaging their audience through new music and diverse multimedia projects. In 2022, they released multiple singles, ‘Mama Lo’u Tina’ and ‘I Need Jesus,’ alongside the album ‘Sunday Set 2.’ This momentum carried into 2023 with singles ‘Psalm 23 (Surely Goodness Surely Mercy)’ and ‘You’re Able,’ culminating in ‘The Hymns – EP’ and the full album ‘The Hymns.’ Their latest, ‘Thank You (Remix) – Single,’ arrived in 2024. Beyond music, The Katinas actively connect through Katina Ministries, their ‘Welcome Home’ podcast, and are developing an upcoming documentary titled ‘Love God Love People,’ further solidifying their mission-driven career.
