Legendary perfumer Thierry Wasser has been creating iconic fragrances for more than three decades. Since being appointed as the in-house perfumer of cosmetics and perfume giant Guerlain in 2008 he has created numerous iconic fragrances, including Quand Vient La Pluie, Aqua Allegoria: Flora Nymphea, La Petite Robe Noire and Idylle, and his remarkable career has also seen him collaborate with other leading perfume brands on the likes of Addict by Christian Dior, Lancôme’s Hynose, and Fuel for Life for Her by Diesel. Known for his innovative approach and ability to blend both synthetic and natural ingredients in surprising and unique ways, his fragrances are both contemporary and ultimately timeless.
Born in Switzerland, Wasser’s father was a chemist who worked for leading fragrance house Givaudan, and the young perfumer didn’t take long to follow his father’s footsteps. After earning his Federal Diploma of Botany at just 20 years old, he attended the prestigious Givaudan perfumery school and just four years later was promoted to perfumer. Following an apprenticeship at French fragrance company Charabot, he joined Firmenich in 1993 where he collaborated on numerous fragrances with contemporary perfumer Annick Ménardo.
Since his appointment at Guerlain as in-house perfumer he has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the greatest perfumers of his generation and remains passionate about his craft, his contributions to the industry making a lasting impact.
