After leaving high school, Notaro earned her general equivalency diploma in 1990. She initially pursued a career in the music industry, managing bands under Tignation Promotions in Denver, Colorado, in the mid-1990s. This work eventually led her to Los Angeles, where she performed stand-up comedy for the first time in the late 1990s.
Notaro’s career gained wider recognition with her distinct deadpan comedic style and deeply personal storytelling. She released her debut stand-up album, “Good One,” in 2011.
