America’s Got Talent runner up Tom Cotter is a comedian who has appeared on numerous late night shows and had his own comedy special on Comedy Central.
Cotter had been a comedian for many years before he competed in America’s Got Talent. He won competitions throughout his early career including the Boston Comedy Festival and Las Vegas Comedy Festival. He was also winner of the 1994 Seattle International Stand Up Competition, and landed several roles in the film, television and theatre industries. In 2003 he created a half hour comedy special for Comedy Central, before auditioning for the 2012 series of America’s Got Talent. He was one of the favourites to win the show from the start, with the judges giving him a free pass to Las Vegas at the audition stage. Cotter finished second in the show overall, losing in the final and just missing out on the grand prize. He was the first comedian to ever reach the final of the competition and since then his career has really taken off. He’s guest starred and presented America’s Got Talent viewing parties as well as competing in America’s Got Talent: The Champions.
This hilarious performer continues to tour extensively around America and the world, including England and China. Cotter has also written a book filled with jokes and advice for parents, called Bad Dad: A Guide to Pitiful Parenting, and shows no signs of stepping away from the spotlight anytime soon.
